Essential Qualifications:
- Technical welding knowledge, training and experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Welder Trade Certification (MIG & TIG Welding) is an asset.
- Ability to interpret blue prints and shop drawings.
- Understanding fractions and decimals.
- Problem solving skills.
- Communication skills (English - written and verbal).
- Physically fit.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety, WHMIS.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts pre-shift inspection of the welding equipment, table, and exhaust system.
- Reports deficiencies to the production supervisor.
- Sets up and operates welding equipment according to required parameters.
- Operates equipment in a safe manner.
- Operates manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment.
- Operates manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment.
- Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding.
- Has the knowledge and skills to perform a job and have ability to weld all metals and alloys.
- Welds Stainless Steel and Mild Steel, Aluminum or Aluminum alloys.
- Output meets the expectations for production, complete required volume of work in a reasonable length of time. Able to make progress against the work schedule and meet deadlines.
- Meets quality expectations, work is through, accurate, neat and error free.
- Follows instruction, shares information and knowledge with others, willing to train others.
- Cleans the equipment and the table.
- Prepares production reports as required.
- Recommends measures to improve productivity and product quality to the supervisor.
- Adheres to the company’s policies and procedures.
- Welds with minimum of supervision from the start to the finished product.
- Requires to cross-train.
- Any other duties as required by management from time to time.
