Food Production Supervisor
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Food Production Supervisor to oversee daily food manufacturing operations and ensure production targets, quality standards, and food safety requirements are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will lead production staff, monitor workflow efficiency, maintain compliance with food safety regulations, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate daily food production activities to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
* Lead, coach, train, and motivate production team members.
* Monitor production processes to ensure product quality, consistency, and efficiency.
* Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, Health & Safety, and company policies.
* Conduct daily production meetings and communicate goals and expectations.
* Monitor staffing levels and assign work effectively to meet operational demands.
* Investigate and resolve production issues, equipment concerns, and quality deviations.
* Complete production reports, attendance records, and performance documentation.
* Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Warehouse teams.
* Ensure proper sanitation and housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the facility.
* Monitor inventory usage and minimize waste.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.
* Participate in employee performance evaluations and disciplinary processes when required.
* Ensure all employees follow workplace health and safety procedures.
Qualifications
* Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
* Minimum 2–5 years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing or food processing environment.
* Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SQF, BRC, or other food safety standards.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Experience with production planning and manufacturing KPIs.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills
* Experience in bakery, meat processing, dairy, beverage, frozen food, or packaged food manufacturing.
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement practices.
* Experience managing teams of 20+ employees.
* Forklift certification is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when required.
* Comfortable working in hot, cold, or refrigerated production environments.
