About the Team
The HR Team reports to the Director of Human Resources and Strategy. This team is responsible for managing all the employee related functions at the organization, including but not limited to, Payroll, Recruiting, Benefits, Employee Management, Employee Relations and Training. The HR Team must balance the various daily tasks that support day to day functions at the organization, while also being able to plan and manage larger employee processes. They support Management’s goals and objectives while also ensuring employees have the tools and capabilities to perform their jobs. The members of this team are efficient and collaborate with all parts of the business daily, so there is always something new to learn and skills to develop.
About the Role
We are seeking a well-rounded HR Generalist who can provide support to the HR Team in various domains, not just one area of expertise. The Generalist would support standard HR functions such as recruiting and hiring, payroll, absences performance and compliance while also helping us revamp our existing HR policies and training material. As our organization grows, we want to make sure we keep our process and practices modern, and the HR Generalist will play a big part in helping the Director or HR and Strategy update the existing practices and documentation. They will also assist in workplace safety exercises and any employee issues that may arise. In this role you will have the opportunity to be involved in many different HR practices, so a good candidate should be able to multi-task as they manage several responsibilities and work well with others. The HR Generalist will report directly to the Director of HR and Strategy while working alongside our HR Coordinator. Previous experience updating HR documentation and policies is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive recruiting efforts by drafting job descriptions, posting job openings, resume screening, managing applicants and engaging with candidates
- Coordinate interviews for the potential candidates and conduct initial interviews to screen candidates.
- Oversee Payroll processing and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations through audits and reporting.
- Administer employee benefit programs, included health benefits, employee perk programs and other miscellaneous items.
- Process employee leave and vacation requests ensuring proper compliance employee policies and laws/regulations.
- Receive employee questions and feedback, directing them to applicable resources and or involving the necessary team members to resolve any outstanding items.
- Develop and maintain training documentation for regulated programs like workplace healthy and safety, as well as professional development programs.
- Provide guidance and support for talent management plans and staffing initiatives.
- Support annual processes like Employee Performance Reviews, Promotion Reviews and other large scale processes and management reviews.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and coordinate with management and leadership to implement process changes.
- Maintain employee information and training records, both the physical copies and electronic database on the organization’s HR systems.
- Work with management to help develop positive employee practices and improve workplace culture.
- Other ad-hoc HR responsibilities as needed.
About You
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
- Native English proficiency with strong written and verbal skills
- Minimum 3-5 years of previous HR experience
- Professional certifications are a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of local and provincial labour laws, requirements and Workplace Health and Safety rules and regulations
- Previous experience running payroll is a plus
- Ability to multi-task and manage different deliverables simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and HRIS/ERP programs
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with different levels of staff and visitors
- Excellent initiative, attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a group
- Comfortability with fast paced and deadline driven work environment
Salary Range
The expected salary range for this position is $60,000 – $80,000 per year.
