Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is eager to learn the estimating process within the drywall and wall & ceiling industry while working closely with an experienced Department Manager. The successful candidate must be punctual, respectful, hardworking, and committed to following established procedures and company standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for drywall, steel stud framing, insulation, acoustical ceilings, and related scopes of work.
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs based on architectural and structural drawings.
- Identify scope requirements, construction details, and potential discrepancies within project documents.
- Support the Department Manager with bid preparation and project analysis.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations, and project documentation.
- Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and technical information.
- Follow estimating procedures, company guidelines, and instructions provided by the Department Manager.
- Attend training sessions and actively participate in learning the company's estimating systems and processes.
- Complete assigned tasks within established deadlines.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of the construction estimating process.
- Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret architectural, structural, and shop drawings. Familiarity with drywall, steel stud framing, insulation, acoustical ceilings, and wall & ceiling systems is considered a strong asset.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Willingness to work additional hours when required to meet tender submission schedules.
- Excellent note-taking and information retention skills.
- Eagerness to learn and develop professionally within the construction industry.
- Ability to follow directions and company procedures accurately and consistently.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Punctual, reliable, and respectful in all interactions.
- Ability to work closely with the Estimating Department Manager / Project Director.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience with estimating software such as OST is an asset but not required.
- Construction-related education or experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of local drywall and wall & ceiling industry practices is preferred.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
