Reports to: Employment Services Supervisor Position Summary:
This position will fill a key role in the delivery and success of a new Skills Development Partnership Project at VCCS Employment Services. Eligible candidates will ideally possess experience working as a job developer/employer liaison/job coach within the employment services field with direct experience working with youth. A diploma/degree in Career Development Practitioner, Social Services, Human Resources, and/or relevant work or training experience in sales/marketing will be considered an asset. Candidates must be exceptional relationship builders, highly motivated, self directed and client centered in their approach. Successful candidates will demonstrate a high level organizational, communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills. This project is focused entirely on supporting youth to connect to the labour market to secure and retain employment. Experience and knowledge working with people with disabilities is required. Applied knowledge of employment counselling practices is essential.
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the primary responsibilities of this target driven, high-response, time sensitive, people centered Employer Liaison/Job Coach position include: researching, prospecting employers and job opportunities that fit the goals/needs of your clients. Connecting with employers, building longstanding relationships and securing employment opportunities within all sectors of the CKL region. The primary focus of this role is to assist unemployed clients with multiple barriers to employment to secure and retain employment through the delivery of individualized employment services which includes: job development, job carving, job coaching, job placements, provisions of community supports, identifying job leads within the hidden job market, promoting clients to the employer, developing training and coaching plans, training employers on Workplace Stability principles and working in collaboration with employer to meet the specific needs of the client.
The successful candidate will be a self driven, outgoing, highly organized, professional, and possess excellent communication and customer service skills . They will pro-actively seek out employers in the community to build strong relationships for employment and retention of VCCS clients They will provide exceptional support to both employer and client to assist clients in securing and retaining employment. They will be responsible for remaining current on labour market information, salaries, working conditions, motivational/coaching theories and will conduct in the field research regarding current and future job openings within the City of Kawartha Lakes job market. The Employer Liaison/Job Coach will work collaboratively with their colleagues to develop and implement detailed training employment and retention plans and soft skills training for innovative program delivery that achieves the highest standards in employment practices. The Employer Liaison/Job Coach will meet and counsel one-on-one with clients to identify suitable employment opportunities and provide one-on-one assistance to the client during their transition to employment. They will participate in the service needs determination process, provide ongoing job development, coaching and job retention for the clients in the project, maintain client files, and achieve program statistical goals and targets.
Primary Functions of this position include:
- Proactive targeted outreach to employers within all sectors of the labour market to identify opportunities that are not yet available in the competitive job market.
- Client centered, 1:1 work with individuals to support them to find and retain employment through job carving and job development practices.
- Ongoing support to employers to identify skills required and capabilities needed and identify training that is required
- Provision of resources, information and coaching to clients and employers to uphold standards of sensitivity/diversity/equity training, workplace health and safety training, and employment standards
- Match participant’s capabilities and interests with employer needs.
- Place clients into appropriate workplaces with and without financial incentives.
- With a focus on retention, develop on the job training plans, coaching plans and agreements that are individualized to the specific needs of the client, including the negotiation of financial incentives.
- Ongoing monitors and evaluation of placements with employers and participants.
- Work directly with employers to ensure ongoing support and development for the client
- Assess the appropriateness of the workplace and the capacity of the employer to provide a positive work experience and work-related training.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation and file management
- Conduct client and employer surveys and follow-ups
- Attending meetings as required
- Work closely with project Case Manager to case conference and proactively manage client success through achieving meaningful employment.
- Facilitate workshops as required on subject matter related to the role
- Effectively manage client progress and to achieve program targets and outcomes
