Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable person for food Prep/Front of House (FOH) that will be able to transition into a Kitchen Lead Role. The majority of this role involves food preparation and maintaining our customer service standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry, leadership skills, experience in restaurants/commercial kitchens, have a positive attitude and an interest in Vietnamese food. Our menu has 5 main sandwiches, a few sides and drinks and we make nearly everything in house (bread, proteins, sauces etc.)
Availability: Morning/day shifts (example 9:30-3pm, 9:30-5pm, with some evening shifts if needed (example 3-9pm) - we will require these hours into the fall (note for students who may be applying)
Hours per week: 28-32 (with the potential for more depending on the candidate)
Pay range: $15-18 based on performance and experience + tips (~an additional $2-4 per hour)
Duties
- Lead food preparation, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met
- Maintain pars and ensure all food items are stocked
- Serve guests efficiently and warmly providing excellent customer service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and service areas
- Support team members during busy periods, fostering a collaborative work environment
- Ensure adherence to all food safety regulations and proper handling procedures
- Manage inventory levels for kitchen supplies (inform management for orders)
- Handle customers professionally, ensuring a positive shop experience
Experience
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments is preferred
- Dishwashing experience
- Knowledge of commercial food preparation, cooking techniques
- Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Experience in serving guests and providing excellent customer service
- Able to lift up to 20kg down stairs (we have a basement kitchen so going up and down stairs often is required)
- Clean and maintain commercial kitchen equipment (meat slicer, ovens, etc)
- Prior leadership experience is a plus, a willingness to learn is essential
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in both food prep and customer interactions
