Position: Security Guard
As a Security Officer with Apex Security, you will be on the front lines of safety, ensuring our clients, employees, and the community are protected. In this role, you will respond to security and enforcement-related incidents, emergencies, and alarms, and act as a lead resource for situations involving social disorder, trespassing, or other challenges. You will enforce facility rules, municipal bylaws, and provincial statutes, while conducting mobile and foot patrols in assigned areas. Proactive problem-solving and engagement are critical, as you will also provide businesses and the public with assistance and exceptional customer service, and collaborate with law enforcement and other agencies when necessary.
Who We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate is physically fit, alert, and able to work 12-hour shifts, day or night. You should be able to stand for extended periods, lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs, and communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal. You are reliable, punctual, flexible, and able to respond to last-minute assignments as needed.
Duties
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises to monitor for suspicious activity or safety hazards
- Observe and report any security breaches or incidents promptly and accurately
- Utilize CCTV systems to surveil designated areas and identify potential security threats
- Maintain surveillance equipment and ensure all cameras are operational
- Enforce access control procedures by verifying identification and authorizations
- Assist in loss prevention efforts by identifying theft or vandalism activities
- Respond appropriately to alarms, emergencies, or disturbances according to established protocols
- Document all security activities, incidents, and observations in detailed reports
- Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary to resolve issues
Experience
- Prior experience in law enforcement, security, surveillance, or loss prevention is preferred but not mandatory
- Familiarity with CCTV systems and surveillance technology is advantageous
- Strong observational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
- Knowledge of security procedures, safety protocols, and emergency response guidelines
- Excellent communication skills for reporting incidents clearly and accurately
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in various shifts, including nights and weekends if required
Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour
