Program Overview:
The Management Trainee Program is a 12-month accelerated development program designed to prepare high-potential candidates to become the next generation of leaders at T&T Supermarket, equipping them through hands-on experience, structured training, mentoring and coaching to build strong capabilities in people leadership, operational excellence, customer service, and business performance. Upon successful completion of the program, Management Trainees typically advance into Department Head positions and ultimately progress toward becoming Store Managers.
Job Overview:
Reporting initially to the Department Head and later to store manager during the 12-month training period, the Management Trainee is responsible for driving departmental performance while consistently delivering exceptional customer service, upholding strong operational standards, fully executing company initiatives and leading by example to build a highly engaged team, operate with a cost-conscious mindset, and contribute directly to sales growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Execution
- Execute daily department operations, ensuring shelves are stocked, displays are well-maintained, and work areas meet cleanliness and safety standards
- Follow operational procedures and ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and equipment handling standards
- Support inventory processes, including receiving, ordering, stock replenishment, and shrink control
- Support execution of merchandising strategies, including product display, pricing, and promotional activities
Business Performance & Cost Control
- Support ordering, demand forecasting, and inventory control to minimize shrink and control costs.
- Drive department results to meet or exceed sales and contribution budgets, with a continuous focus on efficiency and productivity.
- Strive for strong sales growth, with a mindset toward continuous improvement and performance excellence.
Customer Experience
- Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Ensure product presentation, freshness, and availability consistently meet customer expectations.
Requirements & Skills:
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma with 3+ years of retail experience or College or University Graduates with 2+ years of retail experience
- Demonstrated people leadership experience is an asset
- Chain-store or high-volume retail experience preferred
Qualifications
- Understanding of retail operations, merchandising, inventory control, and in-store execution
- Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset; bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is an asset.
- Demonstrates strong learning agility, with the ability to quickly absorb new concepts and apply them effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Highly adaptable and flexible, with the ability to navigate change and shifting priorities
- Shows clear leadership potential, leading by example with a proactive, action-oriented, and can-do mindset
- Able to work effectively under pressure while maintaining high standards of performance and customer service

Availability & Work Conditions
- Flexible availability, including weekends, early/late shifts, and holidays
- Able to stand for extended periods and work in varying temperature environments
- Willing to rotate across tasks, departments, and store locations as part of development, and open to relocation to support business needs
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour
