Occupational Therapist ~ Full-Time* Probationary Position
Black Gold School Division has approximately 13,000 students in 32 schools in Beaumont, Devon, Leduc, New Sarepta, Calmar, Thorsby and Warburg.
Duties:
- Provide assessment, consultation, and intervention for children/students with severe disabilities in Early Childhood Services (ECS) programming up to Grade 12 using the pyramid of intervention and universal design for learning frameworks
- Develop goals and strategies, intervention plans, and make necessary adaptation recommendations on an on-going basis
- Complete appropriate documentation to support the unique programming needs of children
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited University program
- ACOT registration and proof of current professional liability insurance
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team (teachers, parents, Education Assistants, Speech Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, Psychologists etc.)
- Willing to provide professional development workshops
- Own transportation is required – mileage reimbursed
- Candidates with Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Positive Behaviour Support training are preferred
- A positive attitude and commitment to work as part of a Professional Learning Community
Position Term: August 25, 2026 - June 29, 2027
We are seeking a 1.0 FTE (full-time equivalent) position with the flexibility to negotiate a reduced FTE for the right candidate
Hours of work: Monday to Friday (7 hour days) based on school division instructional calendar.
Competitive salary ($78,325-$113,509) commensurate with education and experience. Past experience in an educational setting will be recognized for grid placement (supporting documentation is necessary).
As a condition of employment, new employees are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check at their own expense (prior to starting employment).
