Job Purpose
Oversee purchasing activities involving raw materials, component parts and supplies. Maintains files of material/supplies purchased for follow-up checks on delivery. Maintains communications with suppliers and internal departments regarding status of products ordered. Process purchase orders, investigate new suppliers and research prices.
Role - Typical Duties:
- Research and maintain stock requirements.
- Place orders for requested parts.
- Maintain positive vendor relationships and promotes relationship. Negotiates terms and conditions where applicable.
- Oversees accurate database maintenance of vendor, items, and purchase order files relative to pricing, terms, availability, obsolescence, due dates, etc.
- Responsibility for timely delivery of product and minimizing delays.
- Coordinate product status with requesting department or technician.
- Process and maintain all records pertaining to each purchase order, including verifying pricing to invoices received, payment terms
- Other duties as related to the job.
Skills and Training Required
- Minium of three (3) year degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Inventory control experience preferred.
- Computer experience with database, spreadsheets, word processing, MRP System.
- Must be able to work with numbers and calculations.
- Well organized with an attention to detail work ethic.
- Strong verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to negotiate better deals with suppliers.
- Able to work as part of a team.
