Brief Description:
The main task of the pharmacy receptionist/cashier is to handle pharmacy orders and greet patients in person and over the phone. The receptionist is responsible for the customer service of a pharmacy, which includes receiving customer requests, completing customer orders, and resolving any customer problems or concerns. The receptionist refers and triages to pharmacy staff for medication orders, health related questions and insurance related issues. There is a retail component to the position as the pharmacy receptionist / clerk also acts as a cashier, processing sales and using the pharmacy’s POS system and OLG system. This position requires knowledge and adaptability to software updates to manage online booking systems to book patient appointments through our website and online platforms. Once the receptionist and cashier duties are established, there will be training for inventory receiving to act as a back up to the supervisor.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
· Perform Clerical Duties
o Greet customers in person
o Answer phones and take orders from customers
o Responsible for the customer service of a pharmacy
o Includes receiving customer requests and resolving problems/concerns
o Appropriate triage to the appropriate pharmaceutical staff
· Receive and Process Orders
o Receive prescription orders from customers
o Accurately enter all necessary demographic information in the pharmacy management system
o Clearly indicate customer requests for pick up or delivery upon completion
o Responsible for preparing acuate documentation of orders and sending them to the pharmacy dispensary staff to be filled
o Ensure all clients and staff are treated professionally and with respect
o Ensure privacy and confidentiality of clients are maintained at the highest level
· Conduct Pharmacy Transactions
o Once an order is filled, the pharmacy clerk/receptionist is responsible for packaging it and completing the sales transaction
o Includes creating, printing, and attaching appropriate prescription labels for packaging
o The pharmacy clerk/receptionist also acts as a cashier, processing prescription and over the counter sales and operating the pharmacy’s POS system
o Process Ontario lottery gaming machine and selling lottery and scratch tickets in accordance with OLG licensing and practices
o Communicate with delivery drivers to ensure the customer gets their order on time
o Promoting loyalty programs and awareness of promotions and advertisements
· Assist Pharmacy Staff
o Additional duties to support the operation of the pharmacy and personnel is required, including taking inventory, noting stock levels, notifying the pharmacist or supervisor of any inventory that is low or close to expiring
o Assist with tagging, cleaning, stocking items in the front shop
o Involves performing some pharmacy services under direct supervision of the pharmaceutical staff
o Booking patient appointments through the online system and having knowledge of the pharmacy management software to help answer and triage questions
