Earthstone Excavating Ltd. is a civil excavation company located in Chilliwack, B.C., looking to hire a Lead Pipe Layer.
We take pride in working closely with our customers, building lasting relationships and completing successful projects. Our projects are primarily located in the Fraser Valley.
As a Lead Pipe Layer, you will play a crucial role in installing, repairing, and maintaining underground utility systems. Your responsibilities will include reading and interpreting blueprints, collaborating with and providing insight to construction teams, and ensuring the accurate placement and alignment of pipelines. The successful candidate will be a proven leader, familiar with working around heavy machinery, and will be dedicated to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain underground utility systems, including manholes, catch basins, water main, sewer, stormwater pipelines, and Hydro/Telus conduit.
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction plans to ensure accurate placement and alignment of pipes.
- Collaborate with and provide insight to construction teams to coordinate excavation, grading, and backfilling activities.
- Conduct inspections to identify and address any issues with the pipeline system, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Provide stability and constructive feedback to less experienced team members.
- Report to the Site Forman.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Civil Pipe Layer.
- Must be in good physical condition/health (capable of physical labour)
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction plans.
- Experience in the installation and repair of underground utility systems.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols in construction.
- Experience running a crew is an asset.
