The Pest Control Technician provides pest inspection and remediation services for a variety of pests at Regina Housing Properties
What you’ll do:
- Inspect buildings and outside areas to detect signs of infestation.
- Determine type of treatment required and provide recommendations on the course of action.
- Advise clients on how to prepare for treatment and to prevent future infestations; assist with unit preparations as necessary.
- Prepare and spray chemical mixture on infested areas to kill insects, rodents, and other pests.
- Place and set traps to capture and remove animals.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines, best practices, and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Provide assistance with and recommendations for the procurement of goods required for pest control throughout the portfolio ensuring purchase are both cost effective and of good quality.
Working conditions:
- This position involves both indoor and outdoor work.
- Frequently performs work in tenant occupied homes.
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Bend, crouch, twist, and kneel as necessary.
- Work indoors and outdoors in a wide range of temperatures.
- May perform work in enclosed spaces.
- Frequent use of hand tools requiring manual dexterity.
- Operate a vehicle.
- May climb 1-2 flights of stairs at a time.
- Frequent interactions with the public.
- Frequent lifting and/or carrying of up to 30lbs; infrequent lifting of 50+ lbs.
- Occasional lifting of over 100lbs with assistance.
- Occasional use of step and extension ladders.
What you’ll need:
- A valid Saskatchewan Pesticide Applicator License, specifically Structural Licenses necessary.
- Landscape License is considered an asset.
- 1-2 years’ experience in pest control or a related field.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Commitment to confidentiality and a respect for diversity and individual differences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise good judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to collaborate with others and work effectively in a team setting.
- Demonstrated ability to self-motivate, problem solve, and work efficiently under tight timelines.
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent.
- Reliable vehicle to be used for work purposes.
