Wellness Manager
The Wellness Manager provides operational leadership for the nursing/wellness department while promoting a culture of exceptional resident-centered service that reflects the mission, values of the Empire. This role ensures that staffing coordination, resident service requests, and daily wellness operations are organized, responsive, and aligned with the Empire’s commitment to providing a welcoming and supportive living environment for residents.
The Wellness Manager directs and supports nursing staff in delivering services that promote dignity, independence, and quality of life for residents. The role serves as a key point of contact for residents and families and collaborates with department leaders and frontline teams to ensure daily operations and resident interactions consistently reflect the Empire’s mission and values.
The Wellness Manager also plays an important role in supporting staff performance and development by providing supervision, coaching, and operational guidance to the wellness team. While the primary focus of the position is operational leadership and resident experience, the role maintains may provide nursing support when operational needs require additional support.
Key Responsibilities
· Promote and model a culture of service excellence that supports the Empire’s mission, values, and commitment to resident-centered care.
· Coordinate staffing schedules and ensure appropriate coverage to meet resident care and service needs.
· Oversee the daily operations of the wellness department to ensure efficient workflow, effective communication, and consistent delivery of resident services.
· Respond to resident and family concerns in a timely and professional manner and foster positive communication between residents, families, and staff.
· Respond to requests for additional services and ensure service changes are communicated and implemented appropriately.
· Provide supervision, coaching, and performance management for wellness staff, including addressing performance concerns and supporting staff development.
· Coordinate orientation for new wellness staff and monitor completion of required training and education.
· Monitor care task completion and documentation within the PointClickCare system to ensure accuracy and accountability.
· Monitor service indicators and resident feedback and lead and participate in initiatives to improve service delivery and resident outcomes.
· Provide nursing coverage when operational needs require support.
· Participate in leadership meetings and the Manager-on-Duty rotation to support the safe and effective operation of the Empire.
Qualifications
· Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
· Minimum three years leadership or supervisory experience in retirement living, healthcare, hospitality, or service environments.
· Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
· Excellent communication and conflict resolution abilities.
· Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
· Familiarity with the Retirement Homes Act and the role of the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority.
· Working knowledge of relevant provincial legislation including the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Residential Tenancies Act.
· Experience addressing resident and family concerns in a professional service environment.
· Experience with electronic documentation systems such as PointClickCare considered an asset.
