Project Manager - Disaster Restoration (Calgary, AB)
Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with insurance partners, adjusters, property managers, and homeowners while managing restoration projects from initial loss through final completion. This role oversees the full project lifecycle, including emergency response, estimating, mitigation, reconstruction, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the first responder on-site to assess new claims and determine the scope of work.
Scope restoration projects, document damages, and prepare detailed project plans.
Write accurate estimates using Xactimate and other estimating tools.
Manage all phases of restoration projects, including mitigation and reconstruction, from start to finish.
Attend new claims, perform site inspections, and monitor project progress and work quality throughout the project lifecycle.
Complete sketching, estimating, job costing, scheduling, and coordination of resources for residential and commercial restoration projects.
Educate clients on the restoration process, expected timelines, emergency services, contents handling, abatement, and reconstruction.
Ensure industry KPIs are consistently achieved or exceeded.
Coordinate with internal departments, subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Maintain regular communication with homeowners, insurance adjusters, property managers, and other stakeholders regarding project status.
Work closely with the Project Coordinator to ensure all administrative tasks, documentation, invoicing, and project records are completed accurately and on time.
Monitor project budgets, margins, and invoice collections.
Deliver exceptional customer service and proactively resolve client concerns.
Build and strengthen relationships with insurance adjusters and referral partners through networking and consistent service delivery.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and occupational health and safety regulations.

Ensure appropriate PPE is worn and safety standards are followed by all personnel.

Qualifications
4-5 years of hands-on experience in the disaster restoration industry.
Proven experience managing restoration projects from emergency response through reconstruction.
Experience scoping jobs, writing estimates, being first on-site, and managing mitigation and rebuild projects.
Strong knowledge of water, fire, mould, and reconstruction restoration processes.
IICRC Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) certification required; additional IICRC certifications are an asset.
Experience in carpentry, water damage restoration, remediation, or abatement.
Valid driver's licence with a clean driving abstract.
Clean criminal background check.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficiency in Xactimate, including writing scopes and estimates.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and mobile technology.

Working Conditions
Regular travel to project sites within the service area.
Participation in an on-call emergency response rotation, including occasional after-hours work.
Exposure to fire, smoke, mould, contaminated water, and other hazardous restoration environments.
Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, Tyvek suits, and other safety gear when necessary.
