Overview
We are seeking energetic, responsible, and positive Skateboard Summer Camp Counsellors to join our team. Counsellors will lead and supervise campers in a fun, safe, and inclusive skateboarding environment while helping youth build confidence, resilience, and skill development both on and off the board.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about skateboarding, enjoy working with children, and want to make a meaningful impact in their community.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor campers ages 6–14 in a structured skateboarding camp setting
- Teach fundamental to intermediate skateboard skills (stance, pushing, turning, ollies, basic park features, etc.)
- Ensure camper safety at all times, including proper use of protective equipment
- Lead warm-ups, drills, games, and skill-building activities
- Provide positive encouragement and constructive feedback
- Assist with daily camp setup and teardown (obstacles, sign-in/out, equipment checks)
- Support behaviour management using positive reinforcement strategies
- Communicate professionally with parents/guardians when needed
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating leadership, respect, and sportsmanship
- Respond appropriately to incidents and follow emergency procedures
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Experience working with children (camp, coaching, teaching, babysitting, mentoring, etc.)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- First Aid & CPR C certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date)
- Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous camp counselling or youth coaching experience
- Experience teaching skateboarding lessons
- Experience skateboarding
- Conflict resolution or behaviour management training
- Background in sports, recreation, education, or child & youth work

Contract length: 2 months
Pay: $17.35-$20.84 per hour
