Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region. Schools are located in the region's towns, villages and within the City of Grande Prairie. Peace Wapiti Public School Division has the third largest rural transportation system in Alberta, with a fleet of more than 105 school buses covering 14,000 kilometers per day. The Candidate: The Transportation Shop Foreman, working out of the transportation administration office, located in the city of Grande Prairie, will report directly to the Director of Transportation. This individual will be committed to excellence and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will have strong leadership, management, interpersonal and communication skills. The start date for this position will be May 18, 2026 or upon a mutually agreeable date.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Managing Grande Prairie and Spirit River Transportation Shops

Overseeing a fleet of 145 school buses and 30 vehicles

External school division maintenance, shop and office support
The ideal candidate is a licensed automotive or heavy duty mechanic ideally with fleet experience. The successful candidate must be willing to work in a team environment, work overtime when required, be willing to obtain a commercial vehicle inspection license, hold a valid Class 1 or 3 drivers license and a "Q" Endorsement. Must be able to supply a clean drivers abstract.

The salary for this position is $46.78/hour or $8,111.84 monthly.
