Formwork Foreman
WATB Construction Inc. is expanding and seeking a high-performing Formwork Foreman to lead site operations on commercial, industrial, institutional, and municipal concrete projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
We are looking for an experienced professional who brings strong technical knowledge, leadership, organization, and attention to detail to every project.
The successful candidate will be confident managing crews, coordinating daily site activities, interpreting complex construction drawings, identifying potential conflicts, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Site Operations
Oversee daily site operations and ensure all formwork activities are completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and according to the project schedule.
Drawing Interpretation
Read and interpret structural, architectural, mechanical, and civil drawings. Identify potential conflicts, missing information, and site conditions that may affect the work.
Crew Leadership
Provide clear direction to carpenters and labourers, coordinate daily tasks, assign responsibilities, and monitor crew productivity.
Formwork Execution
Supervise the construction of footings, foundation walls, columns, suspended slabs, grade beams, equipment pads, and other structural concrete components.
Layout and Verification
Verify dimensions, elevations, openings, embeds, anchor bolts, sleeves, and other required components before concrete placement.
Quality Control
Ensure all work is completed according to WATB Construction standards, approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Concrete Pour Coordination
Plan and coordinate concrete pours, including manpower, access, equipment, materials, inspections, and finishing requirements.
Daily Reporting
Complete and submit daily site reports, manpower records, timesheets, material requests, delivery records, and other required documentation.
Safety Enforcement
Promote and enforce Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements, company policies, site rules, and safe work practices.
Materials and Equipment
Coordinate formwork materials, deliveries, equipment usage, cranes, pumps, and site logistics to prevent delays and maintain productivity.
Communication
Communicate professionally with WATB management, general contractors, consultants, inspectors, suppliers, and other trades.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Concrete Formwork Foreman on commercial or industrial projects
- Strong experience with walls, footings, columns, grade beams, and suspended slabs
- Proven ability to supervise and motivate construction crews
- Strong ability to read and interpret structural and construction drawings
- Experience identifying drawing conflicts and coordinating with other trades
- Solid understanding of concrete forming procedures, equipment, materials, and site logistics
- Strong knowledge of Ontario construction safety requirements and OHSA regulations
- Excellent communication, organization, and on-site problem-solving skills
- Experience with PERI formwork systems is a strong asset
- Working at Heights and WHMIS certification
- Valid Ontario G-class driver’s licence
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to travel to projects throughout the GTA and surrounding areas
