Acumen Health is a collaborative team of orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, certified athletic therapists, strength and conditioning coaches, and kinesiologists dedicated to delivering comprehensive sports medicine and orthopedic care. Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Physiotherapist registered and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta to join our Edmonton team full-time. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions ranging from acute injuries to post-operative recovery and performance-based rehabilitation.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Report operationally to the Acumen Reconditioning Manager and functionally to Acumen leadership.
- Assess, treat, and manage musculoskeletal injuries and orthopedic conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation programs tailored to patient goals and functional demands.
- Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, athletic therapists, kinesiologists, and strength and conditioning coaches.
- Provide patient-centered care for acute, sub-acute, chronic, and post-operative orthopedic conditions.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case discussions and contribute to collaborative treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and defensible clinical documentation in accordance with professional and medico-legal standards.
- Utilize electronic medical records and Google Cloud-based systems while ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Contribute to departmental education initiatives, in-services, and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
- Assist in identifying appropriate internal and external referrals when necessary.
- Attend orthopedic consultations and follow-up appointments as required.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance clinical environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Current registration and active practice permit (or eligibility for registration) with the applicable provincial regulatory college (College of Physiotherapists of Alberta).
- Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited program.
- Licensed to practice physiotherapy in the province of Alberta.
- Professional liability insurance required.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and CPR/First Aid certification.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and the Google Cloud Platform.
- Police Information Check completed upon hiring.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to other Acumen Health locations including Calgary, Kelowna, Langley, Montréal, and Vancouver.
Preferred Qualifications and Assets
- Experience treating orthopedic and sports medicine populations.
- Strong manual therapy and exercise prescription skill set.
- Experience with post-operative rehabilitation protocols.
- Training or certification in adjunct therapies such as:
- Manual therapy
- Joint mobilizations
- IASTM
- Myofascial decompression (cupping)
- Blood Flow Restriction therapy
- Soft tissue release techniques
- Trigger point therapy
- Craniosacral therapy
- Active Release Techniques (ART)
- Strength and conditioning certifications (NSCA, NASM, or equivalent) are considered assets.
