Position Profile
As an Accounting Implementation Consultant at Catapult, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation and configuration of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central for our customers. Working under the guidance of senior consultants, you will gain hands-on experience in ERP consulting by collaborating closely with customers to understand their business requirements, deliver effective solutions, and contribute to successful implementations. This position requires a solid foundation in accounting principles and a strong interest in leveraging technology to optimize financial and operational processes.
Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Requirements Gathering
- Assist senior consultants in gathering customer financial requirements and analyzing business processes to determine optimal configurations of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Collaborate with customers' financial teams to identify and resolve issues using Business Central.
System Implementation & Customization
- Support the implementation and customization of Business Central modules, including financial management, supply chain management, sales, purchasing, and manufacturing.
- Work with project teams to perform data migrations, ensuring accuracy and integrity of client data during system transitions.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Participate in system testing activities, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing, to validate functionality and performance.
Training & Support
- Provide end-user training and ongoing support to help clients effectively utilize Business Central features.
- Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with technical teams to resolve errors or bugs during implementation.
Documentation & Compliance
- Document system configurations, customizations, and prepare user manuals to maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Development
- Stay current with new features and enhancements of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to offer informed recommendations to clients.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, methodologies, and best practices for ERP implementations.
AI & Modern Technology Support
- Develop familiarity with AI-enabled features within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and the broader Microsoft platform, including Copilot and automation tools.
- Support Senior Consultants in leveraging AI-assisted capabilities to improve efficiency, reporting, accuracy, and user experience.
- Use AI-enabled tools to assist with documentation, testing support, data validation, and preparation of training materials.
- Learn to identify basic opportunities where automation and AI-assisted insights can reduce manual effort or improve data accuracy.
- Follow established standards and guidance for responsible AI use, including data quality, governance, and security requirements.
- Stay current on new Business Central features and AI enhancements through training, internal knowledge sharing, and hands-on experience.
Requirements
- University degree or relevant post-secondary education or credentials in accounting or commerce.
- 2-4 years of full-time work experience, including experience working in an accounting function.
- Proven skills and experience in ERP business domains, with a strong preference for accounting and financial knowledge and expertise.
- Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary team members: customer stakeholders and end users, project managers, business analysts, and developers.
- General comfort with technology such as database concepts, Excel, SQL, etc.
- Ability to think conceptually, but also comfortable with detailed work.
- Strong and broad business acumen.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong presentation skills, and confidence.
- Interest in learning and using AI-enabled tools and modern technology within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and the Microsoft platform.
- Comfortable working in a remote environment and collaborating virtually.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
Nice-To-Have
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or other ERP systems.
- Customer facing experience in a professional service environment.
- Information Systems minor or computer science and database electives.
- Experience with software requirements gathering, documentation, and software configuration.
- Experience with business process improvement and performance measurement.
- Preparing and reviewing forecasts, budgets, and financial statements.
- Exposure to payroll, job costing, fund accounting, service management, inventory management, supply-chain, and manufacturing.
- Understanding of internal controls and governance.
