Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Dishwasher/Busser to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen and dining areas, ensuring that our guests have an exceptional dining experience. You will be responsible for supporting the front-of-house staff as needed and be the main dishwasher although we all help to pitch in whenever needed.
Depending on your skill level and how fast you can learn we will hopefully train you for line cook or more front of house responsibility.
We are a small but very busy brunch cafe so hours will be on Saturday and Sunday 9-3ish and maybe Fridays for the summer. A great attitude and eagerness is the most important as well as a commitment to work weekends is essential.
Only candidates that reside in Nanaimo currently (or within commuting distance) should apply.
Tip share and some food will be an added bonus.
Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans using commercial dishwashing equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, and dining areas to meet health and safety standards.
- Assist with food preparation tasks as directed by the kitchen staff.
- Help set up and break down dining areas for service.
- Support servers by clearing tables promptly and efficiently after guests have finished their meals.
- Ensure that all kitchen supplies are stocked and organized for smooth operations.
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
Skills
- Experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of kitchen operations including food preparation and cooking techniques is a plus.
- Strong cleaning skills with attention to detail to maintain high sanitation standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards collaboration with other staff members.
