Job Summary
Direct Bore Network Solutions is seeking an experienced and motivated Fibre Optic MDU Foreman to join our growing telecommunications team.
As a Fibre Optic MDU Foreman, you will oversee the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of Fibre optic infrastructure within Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs), including apartment buildings, condominiums, and commercial businesses. You will be responsible for leading field crews, coordinating daily work activities, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and customer standards.
The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive telecommunications experience, and the ability to mentor technicians while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead Fibre Optic MDU installation crews.
- Coordinate daily work assignments, project scheduling, and manpower requirements.
- Install, splice, terminate, and test Fibre optic cables when required.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, design packages, and work orders.
- Ensure all installations meet customer specifications, company standards, and industry best practices.
- Perform quality control inspections and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
- Troubleshoot complex installation and network issues.
- Train, mentor, and support technicians.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, property managers and customers.
- Complete daily reports, project documentation, post construction reports and as-built reports.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Fibre optic telecommunications.
- Previous experience leading crews or working as a Foreman is considered a strong asset.
- Experience working on Bell, Rogers, or other telecommunications Fibre networks is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of MDU Fibre optic construction and installation practices.
- Experience with Fibre splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
- Ability to read and interpret telecommunications construction drawings.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple crews and priorities.
- Valid G Class driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
- Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends as required.
