We're seeking an experienced Recovery Superintendent to lead a critical recovery operation within a kraft pulp mill. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a proven pulp and paper professional with deep recovery process expertise and experience leading unionized operations.
In this role, you'll oversee the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the recovery area, including the recovery boiler, evaporation and stripping systems, tall oil, and turpentine recovery. You'll lead a team of approximately 15 employees while driving performance in safety, environmental compliance, production, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Working closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and union leadership, you'll develop shutdown and maintenance strategies, manage operational and capital budgets, implement training and development programs, and ensure the department consistently meets production and cost objectives. Success in this role requires strong leadership, sound decision-making, and the ability to build collaborative relationships across the mill.
What We're Looking For
Required: Previous recovery operations experience in a kraft pulp mill (this is essential)
Experience supervising employees in a unionized pulp and paper manufacturing environment
1st or 2nd Class Power Engineer Certificate OR a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree
Strong knowledge of recovery boilers, evaporation, recausticizing, and related recovery systems
Experience leading maintenance planning, shutdowns, reliability initiatives, and capital projects
Excellent communication, leadership, and continuous improvement skills
Legal authorization to work in Canada
