Senior Construction Manager / Business Unit Leader
Commercial Construction | Medical & Dental Projects | Equity Partnership Opportunity
Calgary, Alberta
This is more than a senior project management role—it's an opportunity to build and lead a commercial construction division from the ground up.
Our client is an established and growing organization with a substantial pipeline of internal commercial construction projects and a strategic vision to expand into third-party commercial, medical, and dental construction across Western Canada. They are seeking an accomplished Senior Construction Manager to establish, lead, and grow this new business unit.
This is a rare opportunity for an entrepreneurial construction professional who wants to move beyond project delivery and become a key business leader. For the right individual, a performance-based equity partnership opportunity is available, tied to achieving EBITDA growth targets.
What You'll Do
As the leader of the commercial construction division, you will:
- Develop and execute the strategy for a new commercial construction business.
- Lead the delivery of commercial tenant improvement and new construction projects from pre-construction through completion.
- Manage multiple projects throughout Alberta and selected out-of-province locations.
- Build and lead project teams as the business grows.
- Oversee estimating, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contracts, and project execution.
- Establish relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Contribute to business development efforts and help secure external commercial construction opportunities.
- Implement operational processes and best practices to support long-term growth and profitability.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring:
- 5+ years of progressive commercial construction management experience.
- Proven leadership overseeing commercial tenant improvement and commercial construction projects.
- Significant experience managing complex commercial projects, ideally within healthcare, medical, or dental facilities.
- Experience delivering occupied renovations and highly coordinated interior fit-outs.
- Strong understanding of estimating, project financial management, contracts, scheduling, and risk management.
- Exceptional leadership and relationship-building skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build, lead, and grow a business.
- Experience mentoring project teams and developing construction operations.
- Willingness to travel as required for projects throughout Western Canada.
Preferred Experience
- Medical clinic, dental clinic, healthcare, or specialty commercial construction.
- Design-build and construction management delivery models.
- Experience growing or leading a business unit or regional operation.
- Existing relationships within the commercial construction industry.
Why This Opportunity?
This position offers the chance to create something meaningful with the backing of an established organization that already has a significant volume of construction work.
In addition to a highly competitive compensation package, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in a performance-based equity partnership aligned with EBITDA growth targets—allowing them to share directly in the long-term success of the business they help build.
