Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Lead Pastry Cook to oversee the preparation and presentation of a variety of baked goods and desserts in our busy culinary establishment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in baking, cake decorating, and food handling, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. As a Lead Pastry Cook, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards in our pastry department, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring timely delivery of all baked products.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a wide range of pastries, cakes, and desserts according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Decorate cakes and pastries with artistic skill to meet presentation expectations.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations related to pastry production, ensuring efficiency and consistency.
- Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance on food preparation, safety, and techniques.
- Ensure all food handling practices comply with food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
- Manage ingredient inventory, order supplies as needed, and maintain proper packaging for retail or catering purposes.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new pastry recipes and menu items.
- Maintain cleanliness of the pastry station and adhere to all health department guidelines.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in baking, cake decorating, and food preparation within a restaurant or bakery environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures.
- Excellent skills in baking, cooking, and food presentation with an eye for detail.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence.
- Familiarity with packaging techniques for retail or catering distribution.
- Kitchen experience within the food industry is essential; restaurant experience is highly desirable.
Pay: $24.00-$26.42 per hour
