Heavy Duty Mechanic
We are looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in the Elk Valley / Fernie area. This position is focused on maintaining and repairing our internal fleet, including heavy off-road equipment, highway tractor trailers, and light-duty vehicles. We’re looking for someone dependable, mechanically strong, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on:
- Heavy off-road equipment
- Highway tractor trailers
- Light-duty trucks and vehicles
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, air, and mechanical systems
- Complete CVIP inspections and maintenance where applicable
- Perform welding and fabrication repairs as required
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
- Ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently
- Work with operators and supervisors to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime
- Keep work area clean and organized while following all safety procedures
Requirements
- Heavy Equipment Technician apprentice
- Journeyman certification considered a strong asset
- Experience working on heavy equipment, highway trucks, and light vehicles
- Welding experience considered an asset.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Valid driver’s license required
