The program aligns with the City’s Climate Emergency Action Plan goal of having two-thirds of daily trips made using active transportation and transit by 2030.
On school days, during drop-off and pick-up times, one street adjacent to participating schools is transformed into a car-free zone for 30 to 75 minutes, allowing safe walking, biking, and rolling. School Street Leaders set up road barriers in the morning and afternoon, preventing motor vehicles from entering or exiting the School Street.
