About the Role
As a Cook/Culinary Support team member, you'll help prepare and serve delicious, nutritious meals while keeping our kitchen clean, safe, and organized. You'll work alongside our Culinary Lead and team to ensure every guest receives quality meals in a respectful and welcoming environment.
No two days are exactly the same, and that's part of what makes this role rewarding.
What You'll Be Doing
- Preparing and serving meals and snacks
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen
- Following food safety and sanitation standards
- Receiving and storing food deliveries
- Assisting with inventory and kitchen organization
- Working alongside staff and volunteers to keep the kitchen running smoothly
- Helping create a welcoming dining experience for our guests

Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- At least two years of cooking experience in a commercial, institutional, hospitality, healthcare, or similar kitchen
- Food Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain it shortly after hire)
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices
An Asset
- Culinary training or certification
- Experience working in a shelter, healthcare, or non-profit setting
- WHMIS Certification
- First Aid & CPR
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges
Physical Requirements
This is an active role that includes standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs.) with assistance when required, and working in both hot kitchen environments and cold storage areas. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.
