Medical Office Assistant
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional administrative support in a busy optometry, medical or dental office, ensuring smooth daily operations. This role involves managing patient interactions, maintaining electronic medical records, and supporting clinical staff with various administrative tasks. Duties
- Greet patients and visitors professionally at the front desk, creating a welcoming environment
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow using electronic scheduling systems
- Answer phones promptly and courteously, directing calls as needed
- Verify patient insurance information and update electronic medical records accurately
- Assist with check-in and check-out procedures, including collecting payments and providing necessary forms
- Maintain organized and up-to-date medical records
- Prepare patient charts and documentation for provider review
- Support clinical staff with administrative tasks related to patient care coordination
- Manage correspondence, emails, and other communication channels efficiently
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards
Requirements
- Prior experience in an optometry, medical or dental office setting is highly preferred
- Proficiency with electronic medical records systems
- Experience as a receptionist or in office administration is advantageous
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with front desk operations
- Office experience demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, providers, and staff
