Position: Domestic Violence Support Navigator
Casual | $24.00 per hour + 4% holiday pay | 12-hour shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays)
About the Role
Fundy Region Transition House is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Domestic Violence Support Navigator to join our team. In this role, you will provide critical support and guidance to women and children impacted by domestic violence, helping them navigate crisis situations with dignity, respect, and empowerment.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to our 24/7 crisis hotline and text service with empathy and professionalism
- Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention and assist clients in developing personalized safety plans
- Establish trusting and respectful relationships that prioritize client autonomy and well-being
- Ensure a safe, welcoming environment for residents and staff within the shelter
- Facilitate connections to community resources, healthcare providers, and social supports
- Support shelter operations including meal preparation, light housekeeping, care for one shelter cat, and medication distribution
- Maintain accurate, confidential records in compliance with organizational policies
- Participate actively in ongoing training and professional development
Qualifications and Competencies
- Human Service Certificate or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of domestic violence and trauma-informed care principles
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Training in Counselling, Psychology, Suicide Intervention, or Child Development is an asset
- Physical ability to lift up to 20 lbs and navigate stairs multiple times per shift
- Proficiency with computers and organizational skills

Additional Requirements
- Availability for day, evening, night, and weekend shifts
- Successful completion of a six-month probationary period
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Department of Social Development Record Check
