The Program Assistant acts as the central hub of the department for postgraduate subspecialty and fellowship program matters, providing administrative functions for the Program Directors in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM), Paediatric Critical Care (PCCM), and General Paediatrics, as well as for the Program Leads of Paediatric divisions which support and offer clinical fellowship programs. The primary focus of the position is to administer core postgraduate academic activities in postgraduate subspecialty and fellowship training programs by effectively and efficiently, fulfilling an extensive range of support for the department. The role ensures adherence to program standards, serves as point of contact for current and future trainees and faculty members, supplies information and advice to other departments in Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, and collaborates with other Canada-wide Paediatric Program Administrators to observe best practices at the national level. The role administers the Competency-Based Medical Education in for Paediatric Critical Care program, Paediatric Emergency Medicine program, as well as the clinical fellowship training program for all non-Royal College subspecialty divisions in Department of Paediatrics, which includes internationally-sponsored residents and trainees. The role is accountable for coordinating logistics for detailed schedules, teaching sessions, exams and events for trainees and fellows and the collation of evaluation metrics for trainees and teaching faculty within the programs.
