AVL Landscape & Design Ltd. is looking for a reliable and experienced Landscape Construction Labourer / Hardscape Installer to join our growing team.
We specialize in high-quality residential and commercial landscape construction throughout Aurora and the Greater Toronto Area. Our projects include interlock driveways, patios, walkways, retaining walls, pool landscaping, natural stone, porcelain installations, steps, grading and complete outdoor transformations.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of landscape construction or hardscape installation experience, take pride in their workmanship and be comfortable working as part of a professional construction crew.
This is a hands-on position for someone who understands the proper installation process and wants to continue developing their skills with a reputable landscape construction company.
Responsibilities
- Install interlocking pavers for driveways, patios and walkways
- Assist with the installation of retaining walls, steps and pool coping
- Complete excavation, grading and base preparation
- Install and compact granular base materials
- Set elevations, slopes and proper drainage
- Cut pavers, natural stone, concrete products and porcelain
- Install edge restraints and polymeric joint sand
- Assist with natural stone and flagstone installations
- Operate compactors, saws and other landscape construction equipment
- Load, unload and organize tools and materials
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe jobsite
- Follow project plans and instructions from the crew leader
- Complete physically demanding work in different weather conditions
- Work respectfully around customers, coworkers and neighbouring properties
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three years of hardscape or landscape construction experience
- Experience installing interlock, retaining walls or natural stone
- Knowledge of excavation, grading, base preparation and compaction
- Ability to use construction tools and equipment safely
- Ability to measure, calculate elevations and follow layout lines
- Physically capable of lifting and carrying heavy materials
- Reliable, punctual and able to work well with a team
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Reliable transportation to the designated meeting location or jobsite
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Ontario G driver’s licence with a clean driving record
- Experience operating a skid steer, mini excavator or track loader
- Experience using a laser level
- Experience cutting and installing porcelain, natural stone or pool coping
- Experience building retaining walls and installing precast steps
- Experience reading landscape drawings and site plans
- ICPI or other industry certification is considered an asset
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Occasional Saturdays may be required
- Start times may vary depending on the project and location
- Overtime may be available during the busy season
