Job Description:
Irishtown Grocery is looking for a reliable and responsible Kitchen Staff / Food Service Worker to join our team.
The position involves preparing and cooking food in our store kitchen, including fried chicken, fries, pizza, subs, and other ready-to-eat food items. The successful candidate must be able to follow food safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized kitchen, and complete daily kitchen duties in a timely manner.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and package food items according to store procedures
- Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
- Check product dates, rotate stock, and follow FIFO procedures
- Properly label, store, and organize food products
- Clean kitchen equipment, counters, fryers, baskets, work areas, and dishes
- Keep the kitchen clean, safe, and organized throughout the shift
- Monitor food quality and report any issues immediately
- Assist with stocking kitchen supplies and ingredients
- Provide customer service when needed
- Follow instructions from management and complete assigned tasks on time
Requirements:
- Food Handler Certificate New Brunswick is required, or the successful candidate must be willing to obtain a recognized New Brunswick Food Handler Certificate before working independently in the kitchen
- Previous kitchen or food service experience is preferred but not required
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Must have good attention to detail, especially with food dates, labels, and cleanliness
- Must be able to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to follow food safety rules and store procedures
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience preparing fried food, pizza, sandwiches, or convenience store food
- Knowledge of food safety, cleaning, and proper food storage procedures
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends if needed

Pay: From $17.50 per hour
