The Community Services (CS) department at Fred Victor is a multi-service, multi-site structure that encompasses the 40
Oak Community HUB and community programs, Consumption and Treatment Services (Supervised Consumption
Service), Employment and Training Services, Drop-Ins, Warming and Keep Cool Programs and Food Services.
Additionally, it operates a social purpose enterprise with catering services and spearheads a significant Peer Training
Initiative that prioritizes the involvement of individuals with lived experience.

The Weekend Community Outreach Supervisor is a critical role responsible for ensuring safe, dignified, and well-
coordinated services across Fred Victor’s community outreach locations on Saturdays and Sundays. This position
provides direct, hands-on supervision to the Community Outreach Specialist team and acts as the primary point of
authority and support during weekend operations.

This supervisor ensures staffing coverage, manages scheduling, maintains active communication with community
partners, and responds to emergencies. The role is designed for a grounded, experienced professional who can step in
as both a leader, supporting staff in real time while holding accountability for the safety and quality of weekend
programming.

What You Will Do:

Scheduling & Coverage

Develop, manage, and communicate weekend staffing schedules for the Community Outreach Specialist team

across all active site locations.

Proactively identify and secure coverage for absences, vacancies, or gaps in weekend scheduling to ensure

uninterrupted service delivery.

Serve as the on-site point of accountability to ensure all shifts are appropriately staffed and team members are

deployed effectively across locations.

Liaise with the Senior Manager, Community Safety and Outreach regarding staffing concerns, coverage

challenges, or emerging operational needs.

Direct & Hands-On Supervision

Provide active, visible, and engaged supervision to Community Outreach Specialists during weekend shifts—not

just administrative oversight, but direct level support.

Conduct regular check-ins and walk-throughs with staff across site locations to monitor safety, morale, and

service quality.

Offer real-time coaching, direction, training opportunities and debriefing to staff navigating complex or

challenging situations with clients or community members.

Model trauma-informed, harm reduction, and strengths-based approaches in all interactions with staff, clients,

and community members.

Facilitate brief end-of-shift debriefs with staff to capture learnings, flag concerns, and support team cohesion.

Emergency Response

Act as the designated lead for all emergencies occurring on weekends, including overdoses, medical incidents,

fires, and critical safety events.

Coordinate staff response during crises, ensuring protocols are followed and appropriate emergency services are

contacted promptly.

Provide immediate support and stabilization to staff following traumatic or high-stress incidents, initiating

debriefing and escalation pathways as needed.

Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all incidents, emergency responses, and critical events in

accordance with Fred Victor’s reporting procedures.

Escalate significant incidents to the Senior Manager, Community Safety and Outreach and follow established

communication protocols for after-hours reporting.

Partnership Oversight

Serve as the primary weekend liaison for community and organizational partners, including shelter staff, case

management teams, on-site security, and external service providers.

Maintain active and professional communication with partner agencies to ensure coordinated and consistent

service delivery across all weekend operations.

Respond to partner requests, questions, or concerns that arise over the weekend in a timely and solution-

focused manner.

Escalate partnership issues or concerns requiring management follow-up to the Senior Manager, Community

Safety and Outreach.

Staff Support & Team Leadership

Function as the immediate point of support for Community Outreach Specialists during all weekend shifts—

accessible, present, and responsive.

Support staff wellbeing by recognizing signs of stress, burnout, or compassion fatigue and responding with

support and training opportunities.

Champion a culture of accountability, dignity, and continuous learning within the weekend team.

Support the orientation and onboarding of new weekend staff, ensuring they understand protocols, site

expectations, and team norms.

Contribute to performance documentation and support the Senior Manager with supervision.

Support other tasks and community safety initiatives as assigned by the Senior Manager, Community Safety and

Outreach.

Other duties as required.

What You Bring to the Team:
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in community services, social services, or a related field, with demonstrated

supervisory or leadership experience.

Strong working knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and de-escalation approaches.
Proven ability to manage scheduling and staffing logistics, including navigating last-minute coverage changes.
Demonstrated skill in emergency response—calm, decisive, and effective under pressure.
Experience working in multi-site, multi-service environments with diverse populations experiencing

homelessness, mental health challenges, and/or substance use.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with both staff, community

members, neighbors and stakeholders.

Ability to work independently on weekends while maintaining strong accountability to organizational standards

and management expectations.

Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and working alongside people with lived experience.
Graduation from Fred Victor’s Employment and Training Program’s Social Services Training and Employment

Program is an asset.

First Aid/CPR certification required, or willingness to obtain prior to start date.

Work Environment:

This position operates across multiple community sites and involves both indoor and outdoor environments

throughout the shift.

The supervisor will be mobile and present across multiple locations during weekends, with regular movement

between sites.

All employees must be aware of and prepared for potentially hazardous situations and are trained in de-

escalation.

Staff will work in all weather conditions and are expected to maintain visibility and presence throughout the

weekend.

A uniform is provided to all employees to ensure proper protection against various weather conditions,

promoting safety and comfort while on duty.

Safety equipment will be provided.

Compensation and Benefits:

For the Weekend Community Outreach Supervisor, Fred Victor offers an hourly rate between $35.24 to $44.05
7% vacation pay
