Job Title: Automotive Service Technician
Reports To: Service Manager and Owner/ Operator
Located in beautiful Kamloops, BC Southgate Radiator and Auto Service, in business since 1992, is seeking a qualified journeyman mechanic to join our team in the mechanical department.
Job Summary
The Automotive Service Technician inspects, diagnoses, repairs and services mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of all makes and models of cars and light-duty trucks.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs all functions related to inspecting and diagnosing, repairing and servicing mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components, specifically, but not limited to:
- Reviewing work orders and discussion of the work with supervisor/service writer
- Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle for driveability issues and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults
- Troubleshooting and repair of all makes and models
- Document work performed
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment
- Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specifications
- Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune-ups
Required Qualifications
Education:
- A minimum of a four-year automotive service technician apprenticeship program
- British Columbia Provincial Automotive certification
- Inter-Provincial Automotive certification (Red Seal)
Experience:
- At least two years’ relevant experience
Job Requirements
- Class 5 drivers’ licence with a clean abstract, to be provided by the employee when hired and then on a semi-annual basis thereafter. It is the responsibility of the employee to advise the employer of any change in the status of the licence
- Ability to be bonded, which includes a criminal record check
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.22-$46.24 per hour
