Job Description
As the Safety Advisor, you will play a vital role in facilitating and maintaining Denmax's Health and Safety program. Ideally, you will have experience in a Health and Safety advisory role in the oil and gas industry and civil construction (but not mandatory.) You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, promoting Denmax's commitment to employee safety and be a key motivator for the continuous improvement in safety performance. Reporting directly to senior management, you will identify leading and lagging trends and make professional recommendations, based on those findings, to promote and continue to ensure employee safety.
Job Requirements (not limited to):
- Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of Safe Work Practices, Procedures and policies
- Conduct field inspections and report to site supervisor and/or management corrective actions required
- Ensure all required safety documents are being completed as required
- Review and ensure that workers have the training and are competent for required tasks
- Observe field workers to ensure Safe Work Practices are being followed
- Advise supervisors on observations of Safe Work Practices and any unsafe work practices
- Lead near miss and incident investigations and make corrective action recommendations
- Monitor, observe and review field workers to ensure corrective actions are being followed
- Resolve issues of non-compliance
- Familiar with interprovincial requirements and OHS regulations
- Facilitate and/or participate in on-site safety meetings
- Develop and lead quarterly corporate safety meetings
- Review field inspection and maintenance records to ensure completion for all mobile equipment, tools and safety equipment
- Ensure proper PPE is being utilized
- Review field-level hazard assessments and implement controls and monitor the use of those controls
- Participate in pre-project start-up meetings to proactively address and ensure controls are in place for site hazards
- Track and input leading and lagging indicators
- Coordinate and facilitate training as required and ensure training requirements are met
- Ensure client orientations are completed as required
- Ensure all company policies, safe work practices & procedures, and site-specific safety protocols are followed by workers and sub-contractors
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
- Manage all incident investigations along with corrective and preventative actions to client safety, within the expected time frame, depending on client requirements
- Perform other related duties, as required
Qualifications
- Experience with client platforms - ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce/Complyworks (preferable, but not mandatory)
- Collaboration skills, sound business judgement and the ability to self-manage on site independently
- Strong organizational and coordination skills along with ability to coordinate multiple requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational planning, analytical and problem-solving skills, teamwork and attention to detail
- Well-developed relationship-building skills - ability to develop and improve customer relations internally and externally
- Self-motivated, energetic, and reliable with a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently
Training Requirements (not limited to) – training will be provided if necessary
- Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, NCSO or CRSP considered an asset, but not mandatory
