We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Manager & Leader to oversee our maintenance team and our hotel building, grounds, and key mechanical systems while ensuring a safe, comfortable experience for guests and colleagues
About the Role
As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the overall physical operation, appearance, and safety of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, building systems, and exterior grounds. You will lead and motivate a small team of Maintenance Workers, coordinate outside contractors, and work closely with all departments to keep everything running smoothly and safely
What You’ll Do
· Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance program for guest rooms, public spaces, and safety systems
· Operate and maintain HVAC, heating, and ventilation systems in good and efficient working order
· Oversee upkeep of the building exterior, pool, parkade, and hot tub, ensuring all areas are safe and well-presented
· Coordinate and monitor work by external contractors, ensuring it aligns with contracts, leases, and service agreements
· Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests, staff, and management, including repairs or replacement of fixtures and furnishings
· Plan and schedule daily work to minimize disruption to guests and colleagues
· Develop and update the Maintenance Department Operations Manual and maintain equipment operating logs and utility consumption records
· Help prepare capital expenditure plans and annual maintenance budgets
· Select vendors and contractors that meet quality and price standards, and manage purchase orders and inventory for tools, parts, and supplies
· Hire, train, schedule, and supervise maintenance team members; conduct performance reviews and support development
· Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to ensure compliance with fire, safety, and government regulations, including coordinating annual fire and safety equipment inspections
· Actively participate in the hotel’s environmental initiatives, including the Environmental Team and Safety Committee
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment and support other duties as assigned by management
What You Bring
· Must currently live in Whistler or elsewhere in the Sea-to-Sky corridor
· Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
· At least 2 years of experience in a similar maintenance leadership role, ideally in hospitality or a related field
· Solid knowledge of mechanics, plumbing, electrical, and painting; a background in construction or a skilled trade is preferred
· Experience with pool and hot tub chemistry is an asset
· Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
· Proficiency and confidence using tools safely and effectively
· A positive, professional leadership style with high standards of integrity, ethics, and guest service
· Able to respond to urgent maintenance issues when required.
· Current BC Driver’s License

Pay: $63,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
