Majors Contracting Ltd. is seeking an experienced, motivated, and safety-focused Construction Supervisor to oversee a variety of civil construction projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities on assigned projects.
- Lead and mentor field crews while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with company policies, client specifications, and Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- Plan daily work activities and coordinate labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Monitor project schedules and productivity to ensure work progresses efficiently.
- Conduct daily toolbox meetings, site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, timesheets, production records, and project documentation.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and communicate equipment requirements with management.
- Ensure quality control standards are met throughout all phases of construction.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, consultants, and regulatory representatives.
- Assist with project mobilization, demobilization, scheduling, and resource planning.
- Ensure environmental protection measures and permit requirements are followed at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience supervising civil construction projects.
- Experience with bridge construction and rehabilitation, road construction, culvert installations, earthworks, grading, and other heavy civil construction activities.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, specifications, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing crews in remote and outdoor work environments.
- Excellent knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and safe work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience operating or coordinating heavy equipment is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (Class 3 or Class 1 licence considered an asset).
- Current First Aid, WHMIS, Traffic Control, Fall Protection, and other industry certifications are considered assets.
- Willingness to travel and work rotational schedules throughout Newfoundland and Labrador in varying weather conditions.
