Dispatcher

SUMMARY
Reporting into the Regional Director, the Dispatcher is responsible for the coordination of truck and equipment dispatching orders to ensure maximum efficiency of trucking and utilization of equipment.
PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE
Fleet Operations & Scheduling
- Dispatch hired trucks, company owned trucks, equipment, floats to various sites
- Coordinates with other Dispatchers on trucking and equipment operations and needs
- Maintain annual and single trip permits for oversize vehicles and/or overweight loads
Stakeholder Collaboration & Support
- Collaborate with operations managers, superintendents, forepersons and others to ensure resources are distributed accordingly; attend weekly meetings
- Helps with questions from field staff
- Handles any disputes pertaining to hired brokers rental tickets
Administration, Finance & Safety
- Maintains accurate records of daily requirements
- Performs other administrative duties as assigned
- Help with haul rates when required
- Inquiring and assisting with annual trucking rental rates
- Maintain small tools and safety supplies
- Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of experience in the construction industry dispatching trucks and equipment
- Experience in trucking or in an industrial yard environment.
- Knowledge of CVOR rules & regulations
- A high school diploma
- Driver’s licence and ability to travel to different company sites.
- Strong Organizational Skills with demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks while maintaining composure under pressure
- Proficiency with computer applications.
- Basic math skills.
- Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment.
- Outcome focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyse and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.
- Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.
- Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.
- Demonstrate versatility and resourcefulness in overcoming business challenges.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with customers and co-workers
WHAT WE OFFER
- Expected Hourly Wage: $32 – $38 per hour. The actual hourly wage will depend on several factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity, work location and market expectations.
