Summary
Hydrovac Waste Solutions is seeking a reliable and experienced Jr. Heavy Equipment Operator to support our operations at our 170 St location. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating heavy equipment in a variety of job site conditions, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate dozers and other heavy equipment to move, grade, and level materials
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Work closely with site supervisors and crew to complete projects on schedule
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
- Identify and report mechanical issues or hazards promptly
- Assist with other site duties as required
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years experience operating heavy equipment (more preferred depending on role)
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5 minimum; higher class considered an asset)
- Strong understanding of grading, excavation, and site preparation
- Ability to operate equipment safely in various weather and ground conditions
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Safety tickets (e.g., CSTS, First Aid, Ground Disturbance) considered an asset
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Physically demanding role requiring extended periods of sitting and equipment operation
- Overtime and weekend work may be required depending on workload
