BKT Excavating Ltd. is seeking an Estimator/Project Manager to join our team.
The candidate will have a solid foundation in civil construction estimating; possessing strong analytical skills, sound project management competencies, accompanied with excellent communication and organizational competencies.
This role works alongside the Junior Estimator/Project Coordinator in delegating and overseeing the below tasks, as well as works directly with company Owners. This role includes a lot of autonomy and can quickly develop into a more senior role.
Responsibilities (with delegation of some tasks to Junior Estimator):
· Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other relevant material to provide accurate quantity take-offs
· Preparation of detailed cost estimates utilizing company costing history
· Draft, solicit and review RFPs from suppliers and subcontractors
· Draft and submit bid proposals to clients
· Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to ensure scope of work is understood
· Leading Junior Estimator in various mentoring, training and coaching capacities
· Reviewing work of Junior Estimator and taking responsibility for cost estimates and delivering accurate and complete proposals to company Owners or direct to clients
· Keep abreast of market conditions, material costs and industry trends
· Perform various other duties as assigned
Responsibilities (with delegation of some tasks to Project Coordinator):
· Responsible for successful project delivery (cost and schedule)
· Liaise with construction personnel in creation and weekly review of project schedule and deliverables
· Creation of project billing schedule of values, time and material billing, project material tracking, and continual review of work progress
· Leading Project Coordinator in various mentoring, training and coaching capacities
· Attend industry networking events through various construction associations
Requirements:
· College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Project Management, or similar
· Proficiency with MS excel, word, outlook, and project
· InSite Elevation, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD software experience is considered an asset
· Minimum 2 years experience in civil (sewer and water) estimating and project management
· Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, strong ability to multi-task
· Positive team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision
· Valid G License with clean drivers abstract and reliable transportation
· Professional designation is considered an asset but not required (P. Eng., CET, C-Tech, GSC, etc.)

Hours of Work:
· Monday through Friday full time
· Overtime as required
Salary:
· $80,000 – $110,000 depending on experience and qualification
