Position Overview
The Service Lead Hand/Supervisor is a senior, hands on role responsible for the coordination, leadership, and execution of service and installation projects across multiple sports and recreation facilities in the Edmonton region and around Alberta.
This role focuses heavily on ice arena dasher board repair, installation, equipment maintenance, and site leadership. The Lead Hand/Supervisor will oversee day to day work quality, guide junior technicians, provide on site direction, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to Global Sport Resources’ high standards.
This position requires strong mechanical ability, troubleshooting skills, and confidence working at heights. Evening or off hours work may be required depending on facility schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise technicians, labourers, and subcontractors on-site.
- Coordinate scheduling, daily planning, materials, production, and job site activities.
- Train and mentor staff while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Complete daily reporting, safety documentation, and project updates using company technology systems.
- Install, repair, and maintain:
- Hockey board systems
- Arena glass
- Spectator safety netting
- Seating systems
- Dressing room upgrades
- Gymnasium equipment
- Winch and cabling systems
- Powered basketball and divider curtain systems
- Chain link fencing
- Troubleshoot and resolve construction and installation challenges on-site.
- Read and interpret drawings and project specifications.
- Operate equipment including skid steers, forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulating man-lifts.
- Safely haul trailers, tools, materials, and equipment.
- Support shop production and fabrication work when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required
- Minimum 5 years of framing and/or finishing experience, preferably in a lead role.
- Strong construction background with experience across multiple trades and construction applications.
- Previous leadership and crew management experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience operating construction and aerial equipment.
- Strong computer and technology skills for reporting, planning, and safety documentation.
- Ability to train and mentor staff and labourers.
- Own and safely operate framing tools, concrete tools, and construction equipment.
- Valid driver’s license with trailer hauling experience.
- Reliable personal vehicle.
- Ability to work at heights, travel, work out of town, and respond to emergency call-outs.
- Clean criminal record.

Preferred
- Arena, recreation facility, or sports construction experience.
- Hockey or sports background.
- Millwork, fabrication, or specialty installation experience.

Pay: $32.00-$36.00 per hour
