JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Shipping Manager ships, receives, and records the movement of parts, supplies, materials, equipment and stock to and from an establishment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma/GED required
-
Forklift experience an asset
-
Experience in manufacturing or related field is preferred
QUALIFICATIONS:

Certifications such as forklift operator certification or materials handling certification may be necessary or beneficial.

Understanding of shipping and receiving procedures, including packing, labeling, and documentation requirements.

Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance standards, such as hazardous materials handling or international shipping regulations.

Familiarity with inventory control principles, including stock rotation, cycle counting, and inventory reconciliation.

Knowledge of transportation regulations such as WHMIS, TDG, and international shipping requirements.

Experience using warehouse or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms)
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assemble containers and crates, pack goods to be shipped, and prepare identifying information and shipping instructions.

Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks, etc.
-
Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods.

Unpack and route goods to appropriate storage areas.
-
Maintain internal record-keeping systems.
-
May operate a forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.

Know safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials.

Know proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods.

Communicate with machine operators and production staff to coordinate material flow, confirm bundle counts, and ensure equipment is available for shipping and production needs.

Stage materials for production based on work orders or production schedules.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following housekeeping and safety standards.

Assist in cycle counts and physical inventory checks as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires moderate physical effort and use of motor skills requiring manual dexterity.

The employee will regularly sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch.

Employees may lift, lower, carry products up to approximately 50+pounds by hand.

High levels of organization and attention to detail must be accurate in all job tasks.
