Reporting to the Planning Manager, the Planning Superintendent will provide direction, organization, and leadership to a centralized planning group. The purpose of this group is to minimize risk and uncertainties to the business through implementation of maintenance strategies and work processes and increase the organizational success.
Main Accountabilities:
- Responsible for organization and direction of the site central planning group.

Manage all safety culture and practices for entire planning team.

Support BIM operations through priorities set by General Managers

Support operation with planning process development and implementation of Lean Manufacturing within the site.

Organize and manage planning processes and projects from initial concept development to final commissioning and project close-out.

Develop planning budget, manpower, schedule forecasts, performance and implement appropriate corrective actions to ensure adherence to plan.

Responsible to review/ analyze data relating to Work management KPl’s, equipment reliability KPI’s, maintenance cost KPI’s (report to management).

Assist in development and improvement of CMM system.

Participate in improvement initiatives including 5S, Value stream Mapping, TPM, Kanban systems and Kaizen Events.

Help develop employee’s lean skills through effective coaching, teaching, mentoring and simulated work environmental training.

Conduct observations and analyze data including downtime, cycle time analysis, etc. in order to bring recommendations for improvement opportunities forward to the team.

Track, communicates and shares results and lessons learned – ensures successes are published and communicated to all employees.

Act as a change agent to instill an operational excellence, performance improvement culture throughout the organization.

Support Warehouse in standardizing parts and deleting unnecessary spares.

Support Reliability in developing equipment maintenance strategies for assets and spares.

Accountable/Responsible for maintaining current and correct specifications, manuals, and work instruction for Fixed and Mobile assets (Documentation/ Shared Drive/ Library/SAP BOMs etc.)

Supports the integrity of maintenance data for assigned area; Mobile and Fixed assets.

Supports quality control of maintenance work

Accountable/Responsible for supporting team to submitting completed master data requests (create/change/delete) to maintain asset management system and quality.

Supports the 5 whys process and coach others on it use.

Responsible to attend Maintenance - Operation meetings.

Responsible to review and analyze equipment history details for the maintenance activities performed.

Present findings formally to Senior and Executive Management teams.

Provide training to planner group.

Perform benchmarking activities.

Develop equipment and component standards and performance requirements as required.

Perform various project administration tasks, including coordinating meetings, taking meeting minutes, forwarding communication releases, and perform maintenance of project tracking logs (i.e. issues, change control, etc.) in order to satisfy project management processes.

Main Qualifications:
- 5-7 years' experience organizing and leading a planning department

Minimum 10 years mining experience

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite required

Experience using SAP Maintenance system and PI required

Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is preferred

Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) designation preferred
-
Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) preferred

Strong experience in maintenance and planning required.

Experience in business process design and operations and/or maintenance is required.

Experience in successfully leading to completion, mid to large scale transformations of complex business processes resulting in significant and sustainable results.

Experience with developing and reviewing process methodology and tools.

Significant experience designing workshops, facilitating group sessions and work with teams and gain crucial input from key contributors.

Experience in open pit mining preferred, Arctic experience beneficial.

Strategic thinking and understanding of critical issues related to Planning

Excellent relationship management skills: listening, diplomacy, patience and negotiation.
