OptimumCare Staffing is actively recruiting experienced Community Health Nurses (CHNs) for rewarding contract opportunities in remote communities across Nunavut.

Role Expectations
Many of the communities served are remote and may have limited or no on-site physician coverage. Nurses must be comfortable:
- Managing urgent and critical situations independently
- Performing comprehensive patient assessments
- Making sound clinical decisions in high-pressure situations
- Coordinating care with regional healthcare teams and medical consultants
- Providing primary care, emergency care, health promotion, and community-based services
Responsibilities
- Conduct health assessments and collect relevant data to identify community health needs.
- Deliver health education and promote healthy behaviors through individual teaching sessions and group workshops.
- Work closely with individuals with disabilities to develop personalized care plans and ensure access to necessary services.
- Provide case management support, including referrals to healthcare providers and social services.
- Engage in public speaking engagements to raise awareness about health issues and available resources.
- Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and agencies to implement community health programs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, data collected, and progress made.
- Advocate for vulnerable populations to ensure equitable access to healthcare resources.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license with current registration.
- Minimum 2 years of Community Health Nursing (CHN) experience
- Relevant certifications
- Strong assessment, triage, and emergency response skills
- Ability to work independently in remote settings
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
- Experience in data collection and analysis related to public health initiatives.
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Excellent public speaking abilities for community outreach and educational presentations.
- Compassionate, culturally sensitive, and committed to serving diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing community needs and work schedules as required.
Compensation & Benefits
