About Okanagan-Similkameen Neurological Society
The OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre is a vibrant, not-for-profit organization providing clinical intervention and support services to children and youth with a variety of developmental supported needs. About the Opportunity
This is a temporary one-year position. As part of a team, the early childhood educator will work directly within the early childhood program, providing care and engaging programming for children in our daycare and preschool. The role involves working 28 to 30 hours a week in the Infant and Toddler Program area.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Interacts directly with the children providing quality care
- Plans and facilitates fun, creative, consistent child-centred programming
- Engages in positive daily communication and interactions with families to continually build meaningful relationships
- Maintains the cleanliness of the Centre and health and safety practices
- Collaborates with other staff members to deliver high quality and developmentally appropriate programming based on the BC Early Years Framework
- Ensures all safety and supervision standards are implemented and maintained according to licensing and OSNS requirements
- Adheres to all Child Care Facility and legal requirements, including internal policies and procedures
- Assists with the orientation of new staff, students and supported child development workers
- Attend staff meetings and other training as scheduled.

- Strong understanding of child growth and development.
- Ability to create developmentally appropriate and inventive programming that aligns with BC early learning framework.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a cohesive team.
- Flexibility and ability to “go with the flow”.
- High level of organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and with others effectively within an inter-disciplinary team setting.
Educational Qualification
- Early Childhood Educator License (Infant Toddler Early Childhood Educator License preferred).
- Current First Aid certificate.
- Ability to provide professional references.
- Diplomas, certificates, or other evidence of training related to child growth/development.
- Experience working in a childcare or recreational setting.
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check.
- Statement from a medical practitioner indicating adequate physical and psychological capability to work with children and carry out assigned duties may be required.
