Job Description
JPD Contracting is looking for motivated and hardworking Carpenter Helpers to join our team in Nanaimo, BC. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced carpenters on a variety of commercial construction projects, assisting with formwork, framing, material handling, and general carpentry tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to grow their skills in the construction industry while working in a safe, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist carpenters with a variety of construction and carpentry tasks.
- Carry, organize, and set up materials, tools, and equipment for daily work.
- Clean and prepare work areas to ensure a safe and efficient job site.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials according to project specifications.
- Assist with the installation of doors, windows, cabinets, and other fixtures.
- Help assemble and dismantle scaffolding and other temporary structures.
- Support the construction of formwork for foundations, walls, footings, and other concrete structures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings (an asset).
- Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Requirements
- At least one year of previous experience working as a Carpenter Helper is required.
- Knowledge of basic carpentry techniques, materials, and tools.
- Must have your own carpentry hand tools.
- Ability to work safely at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, and repetitive tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn from experienced carpenters.
Skills
- Basic carpentry skills, including measuring, cutting, shaping, and handling construction materials.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
