The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is responsible for the overall management of Mosakahiken Cree Nation’s administration and operations. Reporting to Chief and Council, the CAO provides leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of programs and services to support the Nation’s goals and priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for all administrative departments and staff
- Implement policies, programs, and strategic priorities set by Chief and Council
- Oversee financial management, including budgets, reporting, and funding agreements
- Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and funding requirements
- Manage human resources, including hiring, performance, and organizational development
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, partners, and stakeholders
- Ensure effective delivery of community programs and services
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in public administration, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5+ years of senior management experience, preferably in a First Nation or public sector setting
- Strong knowledge of First Nation governance, funding, and administration
- Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and organizational skills
- Experience in financial management and budgeting
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Working Conditions
- Based in Mosakahiken Cree Nation (Moose Lake, MB)
- Combination of office work and community engagement
Occasional travel and evening meetings may be required
Pay: $125,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
