Longview Logistics Ltd. is a cross-border motor carrier based at CentrePort in Winnipeg, Manitoba, providing freight transportation services across Canada and the United States. We are looking for an organized, driven Truck Dispatcher to coordinate our fleet and keep our operations moving efficiently.
Position Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for planning and coordinating loads, communicating with drivers, and ensuring on-time pickups and deliveries across cross-border lanes. The role requires strong communication skills, the ability to problem-solve under pressure, and a solid understanding of trucking operations and regulatory limits.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, assign, and dispatch loads to drivers across Canadian and U.S. lanes
- Communicate with drivers throughout trips to monitor progress and resolve issues
- Coordinate pickups and deliveries with customers, brokers, and shippers/receivers
- Track shipments and provide timely status updates
- Manage driver Hours-of-Service (HOS) availability to ensure compliance and on-time delivery
- Handle border-crossing documentation (customs, PARS/PAPS, ACE/ACI) coordination
- Monitor loads via telematics/GPS (Samsara or equivalent)
- Address delays, breakdowns, and route changes proactively
- Maintain accurate records of loads, mileage, and driver assignments
- Work closely with safety/compliance and maintenance teams
Qualifications
- Previous dispatching experience in the trucking/transportation industry preferred
- Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. cross-border operations and border documentation
- Familiarity with Hours-of-Service (HOS) rules under NSC and FMCSA
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
- Proficiency with dispatch software, telematics, and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. geography and major freight lanes
- Availability to work flexible hours as operational needs require
