Hycroft is looking for a Drafting Manager to lead our CAD and drafting team across all disciplines, set drafting standards, and ensure every deliverable meets our quality bar.
About the Role
As Hycroft’s Drafting Manager, you will lead and mentor our drafting and design team across electrical, piping, pipeline, civil/structural, and process disciplines. You’ll set drafting standards, manage workload and staffing, and make sure every deliverable meets Hycroft’s quality bar.
This is a hybrid role based in Surrey, BC, working closely with engineering leads, project managers, and clients to keep drafting output on schedule and on standard.
What You’ll Do
● Lead and manage Hycroft’s drafting and design team across all disciplines
● Set and maintain CAD standards, templates, and drafting best practices firm-wide
● Plan and allocate drafting resources across concurrent projects
● Partner with engineering leads to prioritize workload and meet project schedules
● Review and approve drawing packages for quality, consistency, and compliance
● Mentor and develop designers and drafters at all levels
● Recruit, onboard, and evaluate drafting staff
● Drive continuous improvement of CAD tools, workflows, and QA processes
● Serve as the drafting point of contact for clients and project teams
What You Bring
● Diploma or degree in engineering design, drafting technology, or a related field
● 8+ years of progressive CAD/drafting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
● Proficiency across multiple CAD platforms (AutoCAD, MicroStation, SmartPlant/SP3D, or similar)
● Strong knowledge of drafting standards across at least two disciplines (electrical, piping, civil/structural, etc.)
● Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a technical team
● Excellent organizational skills managing multiple concurrent projects
● Authorized to work in Canada
Nice to Have
● Experience in oil & gas, mining, or industrial engineering environments
● Familiarity with EDM/document control systems
● Background spanning multiple drafting disciplines
● Formal CAD administration or 3D modeling/BIM experience
